What Does Reverse Osmosis Do for Purified Water?
We say it in every blog post: Primo® Water’s Reverse Osmosis (RO) purification process. But what does that mean, really? For starters, the process benefits water greatly, as it’s one sure-fire way to make sure it comes out better and safer. So, if you’re looking for purified water that tastes delicious and makes you feel good for drinking it, learn more about the reliability of RO.
WHAT IS REVERSE OSMOSIS?
Reverse osmosis, commonly referred to as RO, is a type of water filtration process. Untreated water, like saltwater or tap water, flows through a semipermeable membrane and carbon filters.
The membrane filtration technology enables the water to flow through the filter, but leaves behind salt, chemicals, minerals and other impurities. That leaves you with highly purified, healthier drinking water that’s free from potentially harmful contaminants like microorganisms, heavy metals, trace pharmaceuticals, and more.
After it’s purified, the water is then stored in a small storage tank, ready and waiting to be enjoyed.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Contaminated water and its potentially negative effects on health have been, and continue to be, a large public health concern. Drinking water that’s been purified through a reverse osmosis system is a great way to ensure the water you and your family drink on a daily basis is free of many unwanted chemicals and contaminants.
The special membrane in the reverse osmosis process filters out many of the microscopic organisms and heavy metals that are present in drinking water. The Primo Water® Purification Process, for example, removes or significantly reduces the presence of chlorine and chlorine by-products, bacteria and parasites, heavy metals (including lead and mercury), and many more contaminants.
So, if you’re concerned about the quality of your drinking water, you can’t go wrong with water that’s been purified through RO. Lucky for you, that’s exactly what happens to Primo.
