Treat Yourself to a DIY Facial Steam
Self-care should be an essential part of anyone’s life. Unwinding and relaxing can help with the inevitable stressors that come with your normal day-to-day. One way to practice self-care is keeping your skin in tip-top shape. Besides, it’s your body’s biggest organ! Luckily, you don’t have to spend a ton of money visiting a spa every time you want a little “you” time. Just treat yourself to a DIY facial steam. Trust us, you won’t be sorry.
FACIAL STEAM BENEFITS
One of the most obvious reasons for facial steaming is its cleansing properties. Hot steam opens up your pores, loosening any dirt, dead skin cells, bacteria or buildup that could clog your pores and cause acne. It can soften acne that’s already present, too. But beware: extracting your own blackheads and pimples is never a good practice. Leave that to a professional!
Another excellent reason for facial steams is to increase circulation. The steam dilates your blood vessels, boosting blood flow that can nourish your skin with new oxygen. That’s one reason you get a beautiful glow after a facial. This increased circulation can also promote collagen and elastin, two facets that result in firmer, younger skin.Â
Though there are many, many more benefits to this practice, another worth mentioning is its soothing properties. Especially when you use herbs or essential oils in conjunction with the steam, it can offer a whole new range of health benefits. And this is the part of a facial steam that truly embodies self-care.

LET’S GET STEAMY
Luckily, you probably already have all the supplies and ingredients at home for this DIY facial steam. Gather the following items to get started:
Stove pot
Mixing bowl
Towel or cloth
Water (we recommend Primo® Water)
Herbs (dealer’s choice: rosemary, basil, fennel or dandelion are great choices)
Essential oils (dealer’s choice: lavender, eucalyptus or chamomile are great choices)
Toner (optional, highly recommended)
Moisturizer (optional, highly recommended)
Â
Instructions:
In a pot, bring Primo® Water to a boil and transfer to a mixing bowl. Add your herbs and essential oils to the water and stir. Bring mixing bowl to a place where you can sit comfortably with your face above the water, about 10-12 inches away. Drape towel over your head to trap the steam and get the most out of your facial steam. If the steam feels too hot, just move your face further away until comfortable. Sit for 10-15 minutes or until the water cools. Then, voila! You’re ready to apply toner to wipe away the buildup the facial steam just released. Make sure to seal in the moisture with a moisturizer, too.

WHY PRIMO?
When you’re doing your DIY facial steam, you want all those incredible health benefits that come with it. So why would you risk those benefits by using tap water? Often, tap brings with it a slew of unwelcome visitors like bacteria and protozoa, heavy metals, cancer-causing chemicals and more. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound very “self-care” to us.Â
Primo® Water undergoes a 5-step Reverse Osmosis (RO) purification process that eliminates all harmful microorganisms, heavy metals, trace pharmaceuticals and more. It’s the perfect start for your at-home facial steam. Better, safer water isn’t just important for ingesting…it’s important for all aspects of your life. And when it comes to self-care, you can’t be too careful. Find Primo near you today.
